American Legion Post 10 is not a bar in the Fields Avenue sense and I'm putting it on this site anyway, because if you spend any time on Perimeter Road you'll end up drinking there sooner or later. It's the American veterans' post on Don Juico Avenue — the fence road — and like Legion posts the world over it has a canteen bar, cold beer at prices that embarrass the strip, and a membership that has seen a great deal and is happy to tell you about it.
The Angeles post has been part of the furniture out here for decades, a legacy of the years when Clark was the biggest US air base outside America and half of Balibago worked on it. The base went in 1991 with the Pinatubo eruption; the veterans stayed, and the Legion is where a lot of them still gather. It turns up in the Perimeter Road round-ups as reliably as the hotels — it was listed open in the early-2021 count — and it's the kind of institution that outlives every trendy bar on the road. That said, I don't have a fresh 2026 sighting from two sources, so I've marked it unverified and I'd ring or ask locally about current canteen hours before making the trip.
Some ground rules, because it's a members' club rather than a public bar. Non-members are generally welcome as guests, especially with a member or if you're a veteran of any allied service, but it's their house: dress like a grown-up, don't wander in blind drunk from the strip, and don't expect — or ask for — the kind of company you'd find in a go-go bar. There are no dancers, no hostesses, no ladies' drinks. There are, however, cheap beers, a menu of American comfort food on the days the kitchen is running, holiday events around Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and the best free advice in Angeles about everything from doctors to visas.
Harry says: I'm not a veteran, but I've been welcomed at that bar more times than I've deserved, usually by a chap twenty years my senior who was flying out of Clark before I could shave. If you're the sort of visitor who likes to understand a town rather than just drink in it, an afternoon at the Legion will teach you more about Angeles than a week on Walking Street.
Stable tip: bring cash, buy a round, and ask about the post's history. You'll be there longer than you planned.
