What is collected
Analytics
Page views are counted with Plausible Analytics for the domain harrythehorse.com. Plausible is a privacy-focused, EU-hosted analytics service that does not use cookies, does not fingerprint devices and does not collect personal data. It records aggregate things: which pages are read, roughly which country a visit came from, which site referred it, and whether a partner link was clicked. None of it identifies you and none of it follows you to other websites.
Attribution storage
If you arrive with tracking parameters on the URL — from a search ad, a partner link or a referral — those parameters and the page you landed on are kept in your browser’s local storage, on your device. Their only use is to attach the same information to a partner link if you choose to click one, so the destination knows where the visit originated. It is not read for any other purpose, it is not transmitted on its own, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, URL, timestamp) for a short period for security and debugging, as any web host does. We don’t mine them and we don’t connect them to anything else.
If you write to harry@harrythehorse.com, that email sits in a mailbox and is read by a person. Corrections are acted on; Mail Bag letters may be published with your first name and town only — never your email address, and never other identifying details. Say the word and your letter is used anonymously or not at all.
What is not collected
- No accounts, passwords or profiles — there’s nothing to sign up to.
- No advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social widgets or ad networks.
- No location tracking, no device fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking.
- No payment information — nothing is sold on this site.
Third parties
Four, and that is the lot: Vercel (hosting), Plausible (analytics), filipina.app (the partner units and the profile photographs they display, served from the app’s own image CDN), and Wikimedia Commons imagery, which is copied to our own server rather than hot-linked. Google Maps links are ordinary outbound links — nothing is embedded, so Google sees nothing unless you click.
Your choices
- Clear the attribution record any time by clearing site data for harrythehorse.com in your browser.
- Block analytics with any ad-blocker or Do Not Track setting — the site works exactly the same.
- Ask what we hold about you, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing harry@harrythehorse.com. In practice the answer is usually “an email you sent us”, and it gets deleted on request.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes get a note on the about page as well. Questions about any of it go to the same address as everything else.
