Clarkton Hotel has been on Don Juico Avenue — Perimeter Road, the strip that runs along the old Clark fence — since the 1990s, and it's the grand old man of the Clarkview hotel cluster. It sits behind walls in its own private gardens at number 620, a couple of minutes' drive from the airport gate and about twenty minutes' walk (or a ₱60–80 trike, Aug 2026) from Walking Street.
Inside the gate the traffic disappears. There's a proper outdoor pool — bigger than most guests expect, with plenty of deck around it — a 24-hour restaurant with a long menu that reviewers describe as impressive for the price, and a bar that fills with expats and returning regulars in the evening. The place has a small spa and enough garden to walk off a breakfast. Rooms come in several generations; the refurbished ones are comfortable and clean with good air-con, fridges and reliable Wi-Fi, and the older ones are, well, older. Ask for a renovated room, ideally poolside.
Reviews in 2025–26 are strong — around 8.4/10 across nearly two thousand ratings — and the theme is always the same: friendly, helpful staff who go the extra yard, a good pool, decent food, and the airport being right there. It's a favourite with blokes who arrive on the late flight and don't want to face Fields Avenue until they've slept.
Guest policy: the Clarkton has been regarded as guest-friendly by the nightlife crowd for as long as I've been here, and nothing I saw in 2026 suggests that's changed — but I couldn't confirm the current joiner-fee position from two independent sources this year, so ask at the desk when you check in.
Breakfast is included on most rates and is a decent buffet. Noise is minimal; you're behind walls and gardens, and Perimeter Road's own bars are a short walk rather than under your window. Who it suits: the over-50 visitor, the airport-arrival crowd, and anyone who prefers a slower Perimeter Road rhythm with Walking Street a trike ride away when the mood takes.
