Tequila Reef Cantina has been part of the Fields Avenue furniture since the early 2000s, sitting at the western, calmer end of the avenue near the Don Juico Avenue junction in Malabañas — the stretch of hotels and quieter bars between the Walking Street mayhem and Perimeter Road. It's a Mexican-American place with the look of a Baja beach shack, and it's one of the longest-serving Western restaurants on the avenue as of Aug 2026.
The morning trade is what earns it a spot in this guide. It does a proper expat breakfast — eggs however you like them, bacon, hash browns, pancakes, huevos rancheros and breakfast burritos — in an air-conditioned room with a decent coffee, and it's a five-to-ten-minute walk from most of the Fields hotels. Later in the day the menu turns Mexican: fajitas sizzling on the plate, burritos, enchiladas, nachos built for a table, and a margarita list that ranges from sensible to reckless. Steaks and burgers cover anyone who didn't come for the tacos.
The crowd is retirees, long-stayers and hotel guests rather than the Walking Street first-night mob, which makes it a good place to hear how the town actually works. As of Aug 2026 budget around ₱500–700 a head for a proper dinner with a couple of drinks, less for breakfast.
Hedge as always: hours and details in this end of town shift, and I couldn't cross-check everything from two current sources for 2026 — glance at the Maps link before you walk down.
