Kokomo's is less a bar than a landmark: the big open-fronted complex on the corner of Fields Avenue and A. Santos Street, right where the pedestrian stretch of Walking Street runs out and the trikes take over. It's been there for the better part of two decades and everybody uses it as a waypoint — "meet you at Kokomo's corner" needs no further explanation in this town. The complex holds a 24-hour restaurant, a hotel with a pool out back, and, depending on how you count, two or three bars. This page is about the bar side; the restaurant (a genuinely enormous international menu, breakfast to sisig at 4am) and the hotel each have their own page.

The corner bar is the one you'll actually use. It's open to the street on two sides, with bar stools along the rail, a couple of pool tables that are in near-constant use, ceiling fans, big screens for whatever sport is on and waitresses who've seen it all. It runs 24 hours like the restaurant, so it's the breakfast bar for the hungover, the afternoon pool hall for the expats, and, from about ten at night, the busiest corner on the western end of the strip. Upstairs and around the side there's a second bar with a girlie-bar flavour — hostess-style rather than a stage show — that keeps evening hours; if that's not your thing, the corner is where you stay.

Prices are the draw. Kokomo's has long had some of the cheapest drinks on Fields Avenue — think ₱90–130 for a local beer and generous happy hours (Aug 2026, check the board) — and there's no cover, no ladies'-drink pressure at the corner bar, and no dress code to speak of. Food comes across from the restaurant kitchen at any hour, which is a dangerous convenience at 3am.

The crowd is the whole town in miniature: retirees who've been coming since the Clarkton days, backpackers, Korean tour groups on their way past, girls from Walking Street bars grabbing a plate between shifts, and freelancers who know a good corner when they see one. It's friendly, a bit scruffy, and rarely quiet.

Stable tip: if you're staying at Kokomo's Hotel, ask for a room away from the corner. If you're not, the corner is exactly where you want to be with a cold one at midnight.
