Butterfly Rock is one of those Fields Avenue names that has sat in the directories for a decade without anyone I trust writing a proper account of it, so let me give you what there is and be plain about the gaps.
The listings put it in two slightly different places. One directory says Fields Avenue, plain and simple, with a map pin toward the Perimeter Road end of the avenue. Another says it's a friendly bar "just off the main road on Constain Street" — the same short side street off Fields Avenue that houses the old Bar Hoppin' room, now Route 69, near Skytrax and Angel Witch. Those aren't miles apart, but they aren't the same doorway either. The listings also disagree on hours: three in the afternoon to two in one, six in the evening to three in the other. Both file it under bars and go-go rooms rather than restaurants or clubs, and neither says a word about live music, so if the name has you picturing a house band, park that until someone confirms it.
What you can reasonably expect, if it's trading, is a small go-go or hostess room in the Fields Avenue mould — a modest stage or platform, a few dozen seats, a handful of ladies, greeters outside — with prices below the Walking Street heavyweights. As of August 2026 I'd budget roughly ₱130–170 for a San Mig Light and ₱250–350 for a ladies' drink at any of these small rooms and confirm on the menu.
Status: not confirmed from two recent independent sources. The name's longevity in the listings suggests a survivor rather than a flash in the pan — Fields Avenue doesn't keep a bar's name in the directories for ten years by accident — but the pandemic thinned out exactly this kind of small room, and I won't guess.
Harry says: I've a rule for bars I can't vouch for — walk past twice. Once early to see if it's lit, once late to see if it's full. Butterfly Rock, wherever exactly it is, gets the same treatment. And if you get in before me, the Mail Bag is open and the first beer's on you.
