Red Bar — usually just ‘Red’ on the sign — is a go-go bar in the Q Bar and Club Atlantis stretch near the top of Walking Street, and it was always the one trying to be a cut above. The old directory line was that it was ‘focused on appealing to the upscale market’, and the room matched: dark red lighting, a dressier fit-out than the pirate ships and lollipops around it, and prices to suit.
Honesty first, as usual. As of August 2026 I couldn’t confirm from two current sources that Red is trading under this name — the listings I can find are undated and thin — so this page is marked unverified. Walking Street’s ‘premium’ rooms come and go faster than the cheap ones, because a bar that charges more has to keep filling the seats to justify it. If the red sign is lit when you walk past, everything below applies; if the frontage has a new name, treat it as a new bar.
What Red offered was the go-go experience with the volume of tackiness turned down a notch: a proper stage and line-up, more lounge seating than stools, moodier lighting, and a crowd that skewed a bit older and a bit better dressed than the stag parties next door. Drinks were at the top end of the strip — think Dollhouse money, local beer around ₱150–200 and ladies’ drinks ₱350 upwards in 2026 terms — with no cover. The system is the same as everywhere: your drink, her drink if you want company, a tip for whoever looked after you.
Stable tip: ‘upscale’ on Walking Street mostly means dimmer lights and dearer drinks. It doesn’t mean a dress code — nobody has ever been turned away from a Fields Avenue bar for wearing shorts — and it doesn’t mean better manners are guaranteed. Judge the room from the door like any other.
Harry remembers Red as the place you took a mate who thought he was too sophisticated for the strip. He wasn’t. If it’s still there, it’ll do the same job.
