Bunny Ranch was a go-go bar on Fields Avenue near the entrance to Walking Street, in the same cluster as Brown Sugar and Insomnia — and it’s gone. Two of the older bar directories agree that After Dark opened on the old Bunny Ranch site in July 2015, and I’ve found nothing since to suggest the Bunny Ranch name has come back to that doorway. So this page exists to answer the question I still get in the mail bag — ‘whatever happened to Bunny Ranch?’ — and to point you at what stands there now.

What it was: a mid-sized go-go bar with a bit of a Western theme in the name if not the fit-out, a fun, unfussy room with local and mixed drinks and — the old listing makes a point of it — a decent choice of imported beers, which was rarer on the avenue back then than it is now. It sat outside the pedestrian stretch proper, on the Fields Avenue run-in where the little bars fight for the passing trade, and it did a fair job of it for years.

What’s there now: After Dark, a compact go-go bar (the old write-ups say sixty-odd seats and a good-sized line-up for the room) that has been trading on the site for a decade — long enough that its own page on this site is the one you want if you’re planning a visit. Brown Sugar is a few doors along, and the whole strip of small rooms between there and the Walking Street arch is a decent warm-up circuit.

One source of confusion: as of 2025 there was a ‘Bunny Bar’ listed in Fields Plaza with daytime hours and reviews about coffee and juice — as far as I can tell that’s a newer café-bar and nothing to do with the old go-go room. If someone in a taxi tells you Bunny Ranch is still open, that may be what they mean.

Harry remembers Bunny Ranch as the sort of bar you didn’t plan on and enjoyed anyway. Angeles doesn’t keep monuments; it repaints the sign and moves on. Go and see what After Dark did with the place.
